The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Aaron Johnson
on an emergency basis from the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced Thursday.
Johnson, 22, has appeared in three games with the Blue Jackets this season, tallying 1-1-2 including the game-winning goal Nov. 26 at the St. Louis Blues. The Port Hawkesbury, NS native has played in 49 AHL games with Syracuse, already setting career-highs in points and assists with 5-24-29. His 29 points rank tied for 18th in the AHL in points by a defenseman. Columbus' fourth pick, 85th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft, Johnson has recorded 3-7-10 in 32 career NHL games and 17-56-73 in 175 career AHL contests.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche. Game time from the Pepsi Center is 9 p.m. ET, with FSN Ohio's Ice Breaker pre-game show starting at 8:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 the Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
