Blue Jackets prospects participating in 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships in Sweden

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships began today in Malmo, Sweden, with several players drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in recent years representing their respective countries at the 10-team tournament.

Sweden will have a pair of Jackets prospects on its roster, as center Alexander Wennberg (Round 1, 14th Overall in 2013) and goaltender Oscar Dansk (R2/31 in 2012) will both be members of the host nation’s delegation. Team Canada will also have two Columbus draft picks on its roster – forwards Kerby Rychel (R1/19 in 2013) and Josh Anderson (R4/95 in 2012).

Other Blue Jackets prospects playing in this year’s tournament include Slovakian center Marko Dano (R1/27 in 2013) and Norwegian left winger Markus Soberg (R6/165 in 2013). Forward Oliver Bjorkstrand (R3/89 in 2013), and Team Denmark recently won the Division I portion of the World Juniors in Poland, earning promotion to the Top Division in 2015.
