The Columbus Blue Jackets continue their longest road trip of the season here in New York tonight, in the most famous arena in the World - Madison Square Garden. It's the first of three straight games against Eastern Conference rivals. Since the start of last season the Blue Jackets have dominated teams from the East, going 16-3-3 heading into tonight's game. From a statistical perspective, the Jackets recent power play success has seen them climb to second in power play efficiency in the NHL at 25.3%.
As I suggested in an earlier blog, Steve Mason gets the start tonight, with Mathieu Garon slated to play in the second of the back-to-back games tomorrow in Montreal. No other lineup changes are expected, but R.J. Umberger gave everyone a scare late in practice when he collided with a teammate, but he remained on the ice and finished the practice.
Tonight's game is in High Definition(HD) and begins at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio. Right now, after finishing this blog, Bill Davidge and I are heading over to the league offices to appear on the second hour of NHL Live on XM and Sirius Satellite radio, on TV on the NHL Network or online at NHL.com.
*Throughout the season, AAA will bring you the Broadcaster's Blogs - "Bobby Mac", "Davidge Dishes" and "Rimer Ramblings." The Columbus Blue Jackets radio and television analysts will try to keep you updated on all the season action through their blogs, especially when the Blue Jackets are on the road.
