COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets and Marathon Petroleum Company LP (MPC) announced the renewal and expansion of their multiyear corporate partnership. MPC is headquartered in Ohio and has been a team partner since the 2006-07 National Hockey League season.
The newest component of the partnership is the recently branded Marathon Hat Trick Tank located on Nationwide Arena’s main concourse. The attraction celebrates the team’s history of three-goal performances at home with a multimedia highlight reel that runs above a tank holding all of the hats collected since Geoff Sanderson recorded the first hat trick in franchise history versus Nashville on Feb. 10, 2001. Including Sanderson, 13 Blue Jackets have contributed to the club’s 17 home-ice hat tricks with Cam Atkinson (Jan. 25, 2016 vs. Montreal) and Nick Foligno (February 25, 2016 vs. New Jersey) contributing to the 2015-16 season total.

The program continues its tradition of awarding one lucky fan free gas for a year when a Blue Jacket scores a hat trick at home. The partnership is further complemented by in-ice messaging and on-ice promotional activities during select games.
The Blue Jackets return to action tomorrow when they visit the Buffalo Sabres. Game time from First Niagara Center is 7 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Scioto Downs Blue Jackets Radio Network, including Sports Radio 97.1 FM, and online at BlueJackets.com.
