COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation marks the conclusion of the "10th Season $10,000 Assist" initiative by presenting the winning organization, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, with a $10,000 check during today's game. The Foundation presented "10th Season $10,000 Assist" to celebrate both the hockey club's 10th National Hockey League season and the Foundation’s Decade of Giving.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio plans to use the $10,000 donation to cover the cost of 500 room nights for families staying at the house in order to be near a child hospitalized at the nearby Nationwide Children's Hospital. The House can accommodate 80 families every night, making it the second largest Ronald McDonald House in the world. Due to an extremely close vote, the Foundation will also award an additional $5,000 donation to Citizens for Humane Action, a local organization dedicated to providing much needed care for the increasing numbers of homeless pets in central Ohio.
