The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today an expansion of the hockey club’s Championship Partnership with Anheuser-Busch to include name entitlement to the in-arena restaurant which will now be known as Bud Light Arena Pub (formerly Blue Jackets Bistro). Anheuser-Busch is one of the Blue Jackets’ original Championship Partners and has also been a corporate partner of the Columbus Destroyers since the team’s arrival in 2004.
“Anheuser-Busch has been a very loyal and supportive corporate partner of the Blue Jackets since day one and we’re thrilled that this association with our restaurant can provide further activation of the Anheuser-Busch brand in this market,” said Larry Hoepfner, Columbus Blue Jackets Senior Vice President of Business Operations.
Other elements of the enhanced partnership include prominent signage on the main concourse adjacent to the restaurant’s interior entrance and promotional support utilizing in-arena and broadcast inventory during Blue Jackets games and Destroyers games.
“To maintain consistency with our long standing Bud Light sponsorship of the NHL and our Bud Light Championship Partner affiliation with the Columbus Blue Jackets, we are very pleased to extend our association with both the Blue Jackets and Nationwide Arena by assuming naming rights to the ‘Bud Light Arena Pub,’” said Ed Ellington, Anheuser-Busch Director of Sales for Ohio.
Bud Light Arena Pub will offer a casual, sports-themed bar and dining option for fans attending games and select special events at Nationwide Arena. Guests may enter from the southwest corner of Nationwide Arena (intersection of Nationwide Blvd. and McConnell Blvd.) near the Ticket Office. The restaurant also provides direct access to the main concourse of the arena with an entrance near section 118 for guests with event tickets.
Bud Light Arena Pub will be open for all Blue Jackets and Destroyers games, select concerts and highly attended special events as well as the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft which will be hosted at Nationwide Arena. During the Blue Jackets season, Bud Light Arena Pub will host player appearances, several post-game radio shows as well as viewing parties while the team is on the road.
Bud Light Arena Pub will be the site of the Blue Jackets’ annual National Hockey League Entry Draft Party on Saturday, June 24 beginning at 4 p.m. Fans are invited to watch live television coverage of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft from Vancouver while Sports Radio 1460 The Fan broadcasts live beginning at 5:30 p.m. Blue Jackets Radio Network host Mark Wyant along with team broadcasters George Matthews, Bill Davidge and Jeff Rimer, will provide up-to-the-minute analysis of each selection.
Draft Party special events include an appearance by forward Dan Fritsche from 5-6 p.m. and the grand unveiling of the logo for the 2007 NHL Entry Draft to be hosted by Columbus next summer. Other activities will include street hockey on McConnell Plaza, Big Hockey on the Pontiac-GMC Parkway, trivia games along with appearances by Stinger and members of the Pepsi Power Patrol. The Bud Light Arena Pub will feature a menu of Rooster’s food items and the bar will be open.
