Todd Simpson To Be Guest Reader In Tutoring Program
/ Chicago Blackhawks
Blackhawk defenseman Todd Simpson is scheduled to participate as a guest reader in the Cabrini Green Tutoring Program's Guest Reader series on Monday, March 13 from 6:30 to 7:15 pm. Simpson will read to a group of elementary school-age children from the schools in and around Cabrini Green at the New City YMCA at 1515 N. Halsted St.
Simpson is already a renowned wordsmith as evidenced by the overwhelming positive response to his "Simmer Blog" which has appeared throughout the season on the Chicago Blackhawks official web site, ChicagoBlackhawks.com.
"Based on my success with the written word, I've been looking to branch out in the arts and become a thespian," Simpson said. "But seriously, and more importantly, it's incredibly important for adults to spend time reading to kids and it was very kind of the Tutoring Program to invite me."
Simpson will be reading from the book, Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems. "Because I don't want to give away the plot, let's just say when you leave Dad in charge of a trip to the Laundromat, things are bound to go wrong," Simpson said.
Simpson is in his tenth NHL season and his first with the Blackhawks. Simpson has appeared in 42 games this season.
