Three Hawk Prospects Invited To U.S. Evaluation Camp

Blackhawk draft picks Patrick Kane, Joseph Palmer and Josh Unice will be among the 45 players under the age of 20 who will audition for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete at the 2008 World Junior Championship.


The three Blackhawk prospects will will arrive in Lake Placid, NY, this Friday for the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp that runs August 3-11. The World Junior Championship will take place Dec. 26, 2007-Jan. 5, 2008, in Pardubice and Liberec, Czech Republic.

Kane, the top pick in this year's NHL Entry Draft, will be joined by 2nd overall choice James vanRiemsdyk (Philadelphia). Kane and vanRiemsdyk are two of the six camp participants who helped the U.S. capture bronze at last year's tournament.

The camp roster will be divided into two squads with Kane and Unice, a goalie selected in the 3rd round of this year's draft, playing for Team Blue; Joe Palmer, a 4th round pick last year, is one of three goalies on Team White. Palmer was a 2006 evaluation camp invitee as well.

The two teams will play each other twice, Aug. 5 and Aug. 6, before meeting Finland and Sweden Aug. 7-11.
