For the first time in over three months, the Chicago Blackhawks hit the ice for Day 1 of Training Camp at the Compton Family Ice Arena. It was an exciting day for fans as they got to see two scrimmages filled with many goals from their favorite players as well as some new faces.
After the games Coach Quenneville said he liked what he saw on the first day and was excited to see some of the new guys play.
When asked which players he was impressed with, Quenneville named Artemi Panarin and Teuvo Teravainen. This was the first time Coach Q saw Panarin play and commented on his anticipation and patience. “Teuvo had a real nice day and I saw some progression in his game,” Quenneville said.
Newcomer Marko Dano also impressed Quenneville as he played alongside Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa. “He definitely has some size, he doesn’t look that big, but he is powerful.”
Three players did not participate in today’s scrimmages. Marcus Kruger has not arrived yet due to issues with his visa, but is expected to be in Chicago next week. Defensemen Michal Rozsival and Kyle Cumiskey did not participate because of injuries. Both are expected to join the team next week.
