New Trier to meet Glenbrook North for 2011 Illinois State High School Hockey Championship

In conjunction with the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), the Chicago Blackhawks will host the 2011 Illinois State High School Hockey Championships at the United Center on Sunday, March 13. The Boys State Championship will match the 2009 state champion New Trier Trevians against the 2007 & 2008 champion Glenbrook North Spartans. Tickets for the day-long event are on sale now.

For the second consecutive year the Boys State Championship contest will be broadcast live in high-definition on Comcast SportsNet Chicago at 6:05 P.M. with Judd Sirott, Steve Konroyd and Chris Boden on the call. March 13 at the United Center will feature a full day of action with a game between the Chicago Fire Department and the Chicago Police Department (10:00 A.M.; separate ticket), the Illinois Girls State Championship (1:00 P.M.), a skills competition (3:30 P.M.) and the Boys State Championship (6:00 P.M.).

This marks the 24th year that AHAI will host their State Championship at the United Center/Chicago Stadium. The event will feature the total Chicago Blackhawks Game Night Experience, including the National Anthem sung by Jim Cornelison and an appearance by Blackhawks Ambassador and Hockey Hall of Famer Denis Savard.
