In conjunction with the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), the Chicago Blackhawks will host the 2013 Illinois State High School Hockey Championships at the United Center on Sunday, March 24. The Boys State Championship will feature a rematch of the 2008 and 2011 championship games, as Glenbrook North will square off against New Trier.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Boys State Championship game will be broadcast live in high definition on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. puck drop with Judd Sirott (play-by-play) and Steve Konroyd (analyst) calling the action for CSN. The day will feature a full day of on-ice action with the Illinois Girls State Championship (12:30 p.m.), the Boys Combined Division State Championship (Buffalo Grove/Hersey/Wheeling vs. Rockford, 3 p.m.) and the Boys State Championship (6 p.m.).
This year marks the 26th year that the AHAI will host the state championship at the United Center/Chicago Stadium. The 2012 title was won by St. Rita in the boys’ division, New Trier in the girls’ and Glenbard in the combined division.
