The Chicago Blackhawks announced that they have placed forward Brandon Mashinter (MASH-ihn-tuhr) on Injured Reserve, retroactive to Oct. 1.
Mashinter, 26, appeared in three preseason games with Chicago and recorded one fighting major. The Bradford, Ontario, native recorded 28 points (14G, 14A) in 47 regular-season games last year with the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs after making his IceHogs debut on Dec. 7, 2013.
Prior to being acquired by the Blackhawks on Dec. 6, 2013, he appeared in six 2013-14 National Hockey League games with the New York Rangers and tallied seven points (1G, 6A) in 11 games with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. Mashinter has appeared in 23 career NHL games with New York and San Jose, and has registered 162 points (79G, 83A) in 329 career AHL games with Worcester, Hartford and Rockford. He agreed to terms on a two-year contact with Chicago on March 19, 2014.
The team’s active roster now includes 13 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.
