When the Blackhawks take the ice Sunday against the San Jose Sharks, goaltender Ray Emery
will be backstopping them, Head Coach Joel Quenneville said Sunday after practice. The start will mark the veteran netminder's third start in four games. Emery has won his last two starts, including Thursday's 3-2 overtime win against the New York Islanders.
“He just seems to progress in games,” Quenneville told the media at practice. “He’s excited, especially when games are on the line. He’s very solid, he finds pucks and his concentration level is in the right place. He moves well, seems big and looks comfortable and confident in the net.”
Emery has appeared in nine games for Chicago this season, earning a 5-1-2 record while allowing 2.80 goals-against on average. News and notes: Patrick Sharp
is expected to be in the lineup Sunday, after he and his wife Abby welcomed their first daughter Friday. Madelyn Grace Sharp was born Friday afternoon, hours after the team returned from Long Island.
