Blackhawks Ink Kontiola, Hobson

Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have signed centers Petri Kontiola and Adam Hobson to a 3-year entry level contract.

Kontiola, 22, 6'0", 198 pound center was selected by the Blackhawks' in the 7th round, 196th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 51 games scoring 12 goals and 35 assists for 47 points for Tappara Tampere in the Finnish Elite League.

He has spent the last four seasons playing for Tappara Tampere in Finland appearing in 200 games while scoring 33 goals and 96 assists for 129 points and 158 penalty minutes. He has also played in 17 playoff games notching four goals and six assists for 10 points and two penalty minutes.

Hobson, 20, 6'0". 209 pound center was selected by the Blackhawks' in the 7th round, 203rd overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. This season, he appeared in 43 games scoring 14 goals and 18 assists for 32 points and 59 penalty minutes for the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League.

Born in Lund, Sweden, but raised in Mission, British Columbia, Hobson has played five seasons for the Spokane Chiefs appearing in 252 games and scoring 51 goals and 77 assists for 128 points and 267 penalty minutes. He has also played in 10 playoff games posting three goals and six penalty minutes.
