Ever wonder how the Blackhawks stack up against NHL competition beyond just wins and losses? The Hockey News released their “Best of Everything in Hockey” issue last week and the Blackhawks, along with three individual players, placed among the top three in thirteen categories, including four first-place honors.
The Indian Head sweater received top spot as the best jersey in the game and three players were recognized for their contributions: captain Jonathan Toews was named as best leader while also placing second in best "money" player and best faceoff man. Fellow center Dave Bolland was chosen as the best grinder while winger Patrick Sharp was third in best hidden gem and best dressed.
Off the ice, the team received accolades for their game experience and management. The team placed first for "Best Business Savvy" and owner Rocky Wirtz was voted as second-best owner. The team’s popular goal song, “Chelsea Dagger” by The Fratellis, took the second spot for best hockey song while the intermission and arena food were ranked third-best in their respective categories. The Blackhawks Media and Public Relations Department was voted as second-best in the league.
The rankings were compiled through vote by the magazine’s 30 NHL correspondents and covered more than 50 categories.
