Blackhawks Assign Brouwer, Hjalmarsson

General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have assigned defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson to Rockford in the AHL. Forward Troy Brouwer had been assigned to Rockford prior to last night’s game in Columbus when center Robert Lang was able to play.

Brouwer had been called up under emergency conditions to replace Lang who had been suffering from back spasms.

Hjalmarsson 20, had been recalled by the Blackhawks on February 28th and had appeared in 12 games picking up one assist and 13 penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut on February 28th at Dallas and recorded his first NHL point with an assist versus St. Louis on March 23rd.

Hjalmarsson was the Blackhawks 4th round pick (108th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Brouwer had appeared in two games for the Blackhawks this season and recorded his first career NHL point with an assist versus St. Louis on March 23rd. He leads Rockford in goals with 30 including 21 power play tallies.
