Blackhawks activate Versteeg, assign Nordstrom

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they activated forward Kris Versteeg from long-term injured reserve and assigned forward Joakim Nordstrom to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Versteeg, 28, has 27 points (9G, 18A) in 34 games this season. The Lethbridge, Alberta, native shares third on the Blackhawks with a +14 plus/minus rating.


Nordstrom, 22, has recorded two assists in 24 games with Chicago this season. The Stockholm, Sweden, native has tallied 13 points (8G, 5A) in 17 games with Rockford this year; he collected his first career hat trick and added an assist on Dec. 13 at Lake Erie. Nordstrom was the team’s third-round selection (90th overall) in the 2010 National Hockey League Draft.

The Blackhawks return to action tonight when they host the Vancouver Canucks at 7 p.m. The game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet and heard on WGN Radio AM-720.
