Bickell, Kuchejda Score Twice In Red Win

by Staff Writer / Chicago Blackhawks

Forwards Bryan Bickell and David Kuchejda each scored twice to lead Red over White 6-2 Saturday at the final scrimmage of the 2005 Prospects Camp.

White jumped out to an early 2-0 lead when Troy Brouwer found Trevor Kell in front of the net for the score. A short time later, it was Brouwer on the receiving end of a pass from Karel Hromas to beat Michael Ouzas.

But Red rallied back to score the next six goals. 2005 2nd round pick Dan Bertram started the scoring, beating Danny Battochio one-on-one following a pass from Tyler Mosienko. Bickell, a 2nd round pick in 2004, evened the score with a hard, top-shelf wrister to beat Battochio. Bertram then found '05 7th rounder David Kuchejda in front of the net to make it 3-2 and later notched his second assist of the game when he fed a streaking Adam Hobson to make it 4-2.

Red closed out the scoring with Kucheja and Bickell each tallying their second goals of the scrimmage. Mosienko assisted on Kuchejda's score; Dave Bolland helped on Bickell's.

The scrimmage lasted about an hour with the two squads alternating between 5-on-5 and 4-on-4 play (complete rosters below). Wisconsin prospects Adam Burish, Matt Ford and Jake Dowell did not participate Friday or Saturday at camp due to the start of classes in Madison.

Norfolk head coach Mike Haviland closed out the scrimmage with a shootout, which White won 4-2. Francis Guerette-Charland, Evan Brophey, Troy Brouwer and Trevor Kell all scored for White; goalies Michael Ouzas and Danny Battochio each allowed two goals. For Red, Bolland and Kuchejda came up short in their attempts against Battochio, but Bertram and Bickell successfully slipped the puck past Bryan Bridges.
