Sakic's Snipe Tabbed "Play of the Game"

The results are in, and you voted Joe Sakic's power-play goal as the "Play of the Game" from Sunday afternoon's 4-3 shootout victory over the Minnesota Wild. The tally was the Avalanche captain's 205th career power-play goal, moving him past Wayne Gretzky (204) on the all-time list.

Results from the voting are as follows:

1. Sakic’s Snipe from the Faceoff Circle - 46.01%
Avalanche captain Joe Sakic made it a 2-2 contest at 5:48 of the third period on his 13th goal of the season. With the Avs on the power play, Peter Forsberg sent a pass from behind the goal line to Sakic, who was stationed near the left faceoff dot. After corralling the pass on his backhand, Sakic deposited a wrist shot past Josh Harding.

2. Forsberg Sets up Stastny - 35.31% 
Stationed behind the Minnesota goal, Milan Hejduk found Peter Forsberg at the left faceoff circle. Forsberg then threaded a pass in front to Paul Stastny, who knocked his own rebound past a sprawling Josh Harding to tie the game at  the 5:25 mark of the second period.

With the game tied in the third period and the Avs again on the power play, Milan Hejduk one-timed a Peter Forsberg feed past Josh Harding at 9:02 to give the Avs a 3-2 advantage. It was Hejduk’s team-best 29th goal of the season.
