The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced Friday that it has activated defenseman Jordan Leopold from the Injured Reserve (IR) list and also recalled forward Ben Guite from its American Hockey League affiliate in Albany.
Leopold has missed 42 of Colorado's 47 games this season due to injury. He recently sat out 17 games because of a groin injury after missing the first 25 games of the year following hernia surgery performed on Aug. 1. The 26-year old was acquired from Calgary last summer.
Guite is being recalled for the third time this season. He has appeared in five games with Colorado, recording one point, his first career NHL goal on Jan. 9 vs. Detroit. The 28-year old ranked third on the River Rats in scoring at the time of his most recent call-up with 29 points in 36 games (10g/19a).
In addition, the Avalanche today placed defenseman Patrice Brisebois on the IR (retroactive to Dec. 27). Brisebois has missed the past 11 games due to a back injury.
