Jones' Goal Named Play Of The Year

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
After six weeks of voting, forward David Jones' overtime goal from Jan. 4 against the Buffalo Sabres was named the Avalanche's "Play of the Year" for the 2010-11 season.

In the final round, Jones beat out another one of his goals (an overtime winner on April 10 against Edmonton) to earn the title.

He had previously topped plays by Philippe Dupuis, Matt Duchene (twice) and himself (a tally on Oct. 12 against Detroit) en route to the finals.

Play of the Year: #15 Jones Ends It In OT
This overtime tally beat out the top-rated play in the tournament to earn Avalanche "Play of the Year" honors for the 2010-11 season.

#15 Jones Ends It In OT – 1/4 vs Buffalo (46.21% in Week 13)
David Jones played the role of hero against Buffalo when he netted his first career overtime goal. Tomas Fleischmann took a pass from Ryan Wilson at the blue line, carried the puck into the zone and baited defenseman Shaone Morrisonn into dropping to the ice. Fleischmann then skated around the prone blueliner and fed Jones, who one-timed it past Ryan Miller for the game-winning goal.
