The Colorado Avalanche is proud to introduce Avalanche Learn to Skate, a free on-ice learn to play hockey program, in association with Colorado Amateur Hockey Association, USA Hockey and local organizations as part of the Avalanche commitment to the development of youth hockey.
Through this program local associations are given the opportunity to provide a free program to children in order to increase their registration in the U8 age group.
Colorado Avalanche Learn to Skate has been created to give children the opportunity to experience the excitement of hockey by eliminating the barrier of purchasing equipment. Designed for boys and girls ages 4 to 8 years old with no prior hockey or skating experience, this is a free four-week ice hockey program.
Colorado Avalanche Learn to Skate provides beginner players the opportunity to learn the basic skills of ice hockey through one-hour on-ice sessions at rinks throughout Colorado. Each session will encourage participants to actively participate in exciting drills geared towards development of basic hockey skills.
Participants of Colorado Avalanche Learn to Skate will receive on-ice instruction by USA Hockey certified coaches by their local association, complimentary hockey equipment, stick and skates during the 4-week program. If a child should enroll in their local program, the equipment they received as part of the program will be theirs to keep and utilize during the 2010-11 hockey season. Otherwise, their equipment must be returned at the conclusion of the Learn to Skate program.Click here to sign up.
