Budaj Earns Play Of The Week

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
Goaltender Peter Budaj earned Avalanche "Play of the Week" laurels for a pair of saves against Minnesota.

Budaj's play earned 46.60% of fan voting, topping a Philippe Dupuis hit (31.07%) and a David Jones goal (23.33%).

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Budaj Comes Up Big – 2/9 @ Minnesota
After coming on in relief of Craig Anderson, Peter Budaj stopped all seven shots the Wild threw his way. This sequence was the most impressive, as the netminder kept the Avalanche within a goal by first stopping a Mikko Koivu tip before moving left-to-right to get his blocker on Matt Cullen’s follow-up attempt.
