The Colorado Avalanche, in partnership with Gold Crown Foundation and USO, brought smiles to 200 5th and 6th graders from District 8 Ft. Carson schools in Colorado Springs Friday, October 28, at Pepsi Center.

The children and chaperones were bussed from Fort Carson to Gold Crown Field House for an afternoon of games.  After an early dinner, the group arrived at Pepsi Center in time for the Avalanche vs. Edmonton Oilers game.

The special guests wore commemorative T-shirts and were greeted by members of the Avs Better Halves who escorted them to their seats.  Many of the children currently have, or have experienced, a parent who has been deployed.  At the game, the children received gift bags, concession coupons and a special visit by mascots who attended Avalanche mascot Bernie’s birthday celebration.
