DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced that it signed center Brett McLean to a one-year deal late Thursday night avoiding an arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Friday.
"Brett had a strong season and produced some quality minutes for the club," said Avalanche Executive Vice President and General Manager Francois Giguere. "We're pleased we were able to sign him and avoid arbitration."
McLean, 27, set career highs in assists (31) and points (40) in his first season with the Avalanche and second full season in the NHL. He was one of six Avalanche players to appear in every game and was among the team leaders in face-off percentage (50.6%).
