Avalanche Play Of The Week: Nov. 5-11

by - Official Site of the Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche is again asking for your help in determining the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" each week during the regular season. At the end of the year, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine, via fan voting, the Avalanche's "Play of the Year."

Goals by Kevin Porter, Philippe Dupuis and Brandon Yip are this week's nominees.

Voting ends on Monday, Nov. 15 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!

Porter’s First Of Two – 11/6 vs. Dallas
Some hard work led to Kevin Porter’s first goal of the 2010-11 season. Following a faceoff in the offensive zone, David Van Der Gulik was able to occupy two Stars defenders. That allowed Porter to pick up a loose puck to the right of Dallas netminder Andrew Raycroft and bring it to the front of the goal, where he deposited a backhand attempt into the back of the net. Porter would go on to add a second goal as Colorado cruised to a 5-0 win.

Dupuis’ Shorty – 11/6 vs. Dallas
Philippe Dupuis’ first NHL goal was a memorable one. With the Avs short-handed in the second period, Dupuis beat Dallas forward Brad Richards to a loose puck near the blue line and went on a 2-on-1 with Kevin Porter. With the passing lane shut down, Dupuis elected to take the shot and beat Andrew Raycroft with a wrister.

Yip’s Tip – 11/6 vs. Dallas
Brandon Yip put the icing on Colorado’s 5-0 victory over Dallas, rounding out the scoring with some crafty stick work. Heading up the ice on a 2-on-2 rush with teammate Matt Duchene, Yip got a step on Dallas forward Mike Ribeiro and was able to reach out his stick to tip in a Duchene centering feed.
