ColoradoAvalanche.com is again asking for your help in determining the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" each week during the regular season. At the end of the year, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine, via fan voting, the Avalanche's "Play of the Year."
Philippe Dupuis, Kevin Porter
and Matt Duchene
are this week's nominees.
Voting ends on Monday, Feb. 21 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!
Dupuis Breaks Away – 2/11 @ Columbus
Philippe Dupuis’ defensive skills translated into offensive success against the team that originally drafted him, the Columbus Blue Jackets. After picking off an RJ Umberger pass in the neutral zone, Dupuis skated in on a breakaway and put a nicely placed wrist shot over the left shoulder of netminder Mathieu Garon. Porter Hits Double Figures – 2/12 @ Nashville
opened the game’s scoring against Nashville with his 10th goal of the season. The forward first made a defensive play to begin the sequence, knocking down a Colin Wilson pass just outside Colorado’s offensive blue line. The Avalanche turned up-ice, where Paul Stastny
made a nice feed to Porter, who went forehand to backhand and beat Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne.
Duchene’s Blast – 2/12 @ Nashville
has many tricks in his bag, but on this play he broke out one that he rarely utilizes: a good old fashioned slap shot. Duchene took a feed from Brandon Yip at the blue line, skated into the left circle and unleashed a laser that eluded Nashville’s Pekka Rinne to give the Avs a 3-2 advantage.
