Ask the Players: Who Would You Be?

by Aaron Lopez / Colorado Avalanche recently posed the following question to a handful of Avalanche players: If you could trade places with any person in history for a single day, who would it be and why?

The answers were as intriguing as they were unique, ranging from political leaders to musicians...and even a superhero.

Ian Laperriere: “Bono from U2. He goes out of his way as far as humanitarian work goes. It’s not for money or attention, because he has plenty of that due to his music. He does so many great things around the world and goes out of his way to help people. That’s remarkable for a person who has everything in life.”

Jaroslav Hlinka: “I don’t really have anybody popular I’d like to change with. Right now, maybe I’d like to change lives with someone who is resting; somebody on the beach.”

Tyler Arnason: “Maybe John F. Kennedy. He was president of the United States and the leader of the free world, so that would be pretty cool.”

Wojtek Wolski: “I can’t think of someone in particular, but I’m sure it would be some kind of leader or someone from the past who did something that affected the world. Maybe a political leader that did something negative that I could change to make positive that day.”

Jeff Finger: “Can it be fictional? The Incredible Hulk. No one would be able to mess with you. You’d run the show.”

Peter Budaj: “I’m very happy with my life, but I’d like to know what it was like for Joe Sakic and those guys the day they won the Stanley Cup. That has to be amazing. Hopefully I’ll get to know that feeling one day.”

Milan Hejduk: “Tiger Woods. I would enjoy beating everybody. He’s such a dominant player and it would be nice to feel that way. You know if you bring your game, you’re the best and you’re going to win the tournament.”

Kurt Sauer: “I’d like to trade places with my wife. I’d get spend all day with my kids and I would appreciate her more at the end of the day. It could be very beneficial if you think about it.”

Ben Guite: “Richard Branson (Entrepreneur and founder of Virgin Group, which includes Virgin Records). He does a lot of charity work and is pushing the envelope for space travel and having a greener aviation system. He has lots of money, but at the same time he has a good conscience.”
