The biggest news of the night might have come from a player who had absolutely no impact on the game.

Avalanche goaltender Craig Anderson suffered a knee injury during the pre-game warmup tonight in Vancouver and was not on the bench during the contest. While there was no immediate word on the severity of Anderson’s injury, the goaltender will not travel with the team to Calgary for the final game of the road trip. He will instead head back to Denver on Wednesday.

Anderson wasn’t slated to play in tonight’s game, as Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco had announced on Monday that Peter Budaj would be making his second start of the season during Tuesday’s  game.

In seven outings this season, Anderson has posted a 3-4 record with a .907 save percentage.

The injury most likely means that Budaj will be between the pipes Thursday in Calgary, while the Avalanche will call-up either Jason Bacashihua or John Grahame from the Lake Erie Monsters to serve as his backup.
