A Look Back: Paul Stastny's Season in Review

Throughout the offseason, will highlight the Avalanche's players and look back at their accomplishments during the 2007-08 campaign through a series of "Season in Review" features.

This week's subject is forward Paul Stastny, who led the Avalanche in scoring with 71 points (24g/47a) in 66 games during a memorable sophomore campaign.

Oct. 3 vs. Dallas - Big Opener
Kicking the season off with a bang, Stastny became the first Avs player and the fourth in franchise history to notch a hat trick on Opening Night

Oct. 7 vs. San Jose - Shining Star
Days later, the center totaled five points (1g/4a) in a 6-2 win over the Sharks. By virtue of his eight-point week (4g/4a), Stastny was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week

Oct. 16 vs. Calgary - Leading the Charge
Stastny recorded three assists in the third period as the Avs rallied from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game – a contest Colorado eventually won by a 5-4 count following a shootout

Nov. 11 vs. Minnesota - Running Wild
The sophomore scored a power-play goal at 5:59 of the second period and added the eventual game-winning tally less than 10 minutes later in a 4-2 win over the Wild

Dec. 9 vs. St. Louis - Five Alive
With two goals and three assists, Stastny recorded his second five-point effort of the season in a 9-5 win over the Blues

Jan. 10 - All Star
Stastny was named to his first career All-Star Game, having recorded 44 points (15g/29a) through 43 games at the time of his selection. However, he did not participate in the All-Star Game due to injury

Feb. 26 @ Calgary - Welcome Back
In only his third game back from injury, Stastny scored the game-winning goal 3:02 into overtime, depositing a feed from Ryan Smyth to give the Avs a 3-2 win

March 26 vs. Vancouver- Clutch Performance
In a late-season game with playoff implications, Stastny knocked home the rebound of a Milan Hejduk attempt at 4:54 of the second period and also added two assists in a 6-3 Avalanche win

April 17 @ Minnesota - Playoff Tally
Stastny notched his first career playoff tally in Game Five of the WCQF against Minnesota, putting a backhander by Niklas Backstrom for the eventual game-winner

April 24 @ Detroit - Doing His Part
In arguably the best playoff performance of his young career, Stastny had two points in Game One of the WCSF against Detroit. Stastny opened the scoring at 8:53 of the first period and added a helper in the third
