At the Rink: Red Wings at Jets

WINNIPEG -- Lineup changes are possible for the Detroit Red Wings when they visit the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; FS-D, TSN3).

The Red Wings, who will play for the third time in four nights, had an optional skate after a 3-1 loss at the Minnesota Wild on Monday. It is expected goaltender Jimmy Howard will start after Petr Mrazek played the past two games.

Detroit coach Jeff Blashill was not happy with his players' performance in the loss at Minnesota. One option is inserting forward Eric Tangradi into the lineup. Detroit recalled Tangradi, a former Jet, from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League on Monday, but he did not dress at Minnesota.

The status of forward Luke Glendening, who missed the game Monday because of an illness, is not known.

"We're still making evaluations of the lineup," Blashill said.

At the Rink: Blackhawks at Coyotes

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – With centers Martin Hanzal and Boyd Gordon still out of the lineup, the Arizona Coyotes will give rookie center Laurent Dauphin a chance to make his NHL debut against the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday (9 p.m. ET; CSN-CH, FS-A).

Dauphin, the 39th pick of the 2013 NHL Draft, had 10 points in 30 games with Springfield of the American Hockey League before being recalled Monday with forward Craig Cunningham. They will join Kyle Chipchura on the fourth line against the Blackhawks.

"We'll throw him in with Gordon and Hanzal out," Arizona coach Dave Tippett said. "He's played well and he's one of the good prospects we've had down there this year so we'll see what he can do.

"His quickness, skating, ability to read plays quickly are reasons why we made the move. Playing against the Stanley Cup champions, that's a good start for him."

At the Rink: Kings at Oilers

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers look to equal a franchise high for consecutive home wins when they host the Los Angeles Kings (9 p.m. ET; FS-W, SNOL) at Rexall Place on Tuesday.

The Oilers (15-19-3) have won seven consecutive games at home dating back to a 5-1 win against the New Jersey Devils on Nov. 20.

They won eight straight on two occasions in franchise history: Jan. 19-Feb. 22, 1985 and Feb. 24-April 2, 1986.

The game against the Kings is the first of a six-game homestand for the Oilers.

"I think our record indicates [playing at home] makes a difference," Oilers coach Todd McLellan said. "I wouldn't say that makes the wins more accessible at home or the losses greater on the road, but we've been able to have some success here. There is an energy in the building, there has been for a while now, that I think we can capture and it's our job as a team, as a group of players, to keep that energy up and keep our fans excited and believing. We'll try to do that on this homestand."

At the Rink: Predators at Blues

ST. LOUIS -- Kyle Brodziak will return to the St. Louis Blues lineup against the Nashville Predators at Scottrade Center on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SNP, SNP).

Brodziak will go back into his spot centering the fourth line. He missed the past five games because of a lower-body injury. Brodziak was cut above the right knee by the skate of Nashville defenseman Seth Jones in a 2-1 win against the Predators on Dec. 12.

"I feel good," Brodziak said. "Now it's going to be up to the coaches. As far as to how it reacted yesterday and how it felt this morning, it felt pretty good.

"I'm looking forward to it. Everyone knows it's not fun sitting out and watching. Hopefully I can get back in and continue to build my game and continue to build the team's game as we go along here. ... It's too tough of a league where you have to tip-toe your way in."

At the Rink: Stars at Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS -- Opposites will attract when the Dallas Stars play the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday at Nationwide Arena.

The Stars (27-7-3) have 57 points to lead the NHL and are 4-0-1 in their past five games. Columbus' 29 points are the fewest in the League and the Blue Jackets (12-22-3) have lost three straight and have two wins in 10 games.

Returning after a three-game absence from a lower body injury will be first-year captain Nick Foligno, among those who had their leadership skills questioned by coach John Tortorella.

"I have a belief in myself and in the leadership group in here that may be a little bit different than what they're thinking, but the results are what they are," Foligno said after the morning skate.

DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Dec. 29

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Sven Andrighetto
, C, Montreal Canadiens

DraftKings price: $2,700

Andrighetto was a healthy scratch for four consecutive games before coach Michel Therrien placed him on the third line with Tomas Plekanec ($5,300) and Tomas Fleischmann ($3,600) in a 4-3 win at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. The rookie made his case to remain in the lineup for at least the short term with an assist, one blocked shot and one shot on goal. Andrighetto can provide a lot of bang for the buck at the Florida Panthers considering all five of his points this season (one goal, four assists) have come in five road games.

At the Rink: Canadiens at Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. -- The Montreal Canadiens make their annual Christmastime visit to BB&T Center on Tuesday night, but this matchup against the Florida Panthers (7:30 p.m. ET; RDS, SNE, FS-F) will have a different element: First place in the Atlantic Division will be on the line.

The Canadiens (21-14-3), who have goalie Ben Scrivens making his NHL season debut one day after being acquired via trade from the Edmonton Oilers, lead the division with 45 points after ending a six-game losing streak Monday with a 4-3 shootout victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Panthers (20-12-4) will enter the game one point behind the Canadiens while looking to extend their six-game winning streak, their longest since the team won seven in a row in March 2008.

"It's got a little extra special meaning tonight just because of the standings right now, but at the end of the day it's a regular-season game," Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo said. "We want the two points; it doesn't matter who we're facing. We don't want it to get too overwhelming. We just want to just play our game, keep the standings quiet right now and not put too much attention on ourselves and just keep winning."

At the Rink: Senators at Bruins

BOSTON -- Goaltender Craig Anderson will make his third straight start for the Ottawa Senators in the second half of a home-and-home series with the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; RDS2, TSN5, NESN).

Anderson made 38 saves in a 3-1 home win against the Bruins on Sunday.

"I think a lot of it had to do with, in the third period we played really well, we shut them down pretty good," said Anderson, who has 77 saves on 79 shots in his past two games. "But right off the bat, at the beginning of the game, they just started throwing everything at the net. So the shot clock kind of got skewed out of proportion right off the bat. But they did generate some offense and we were able to shut them down."

At the Rink: Islanders at Maple Leafs

TORONTO Toronto Maple Leafs center Tyler Bozak hopes to continue to improve his dependable two-way game when the New York Islanders visit Air Canada Centre on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; TVA Sports, MSG+ 2, TSN4).

Bozak, who was the NHL's third star of the week for the week ending Dec. 27, was held out of practice Monday to rest some nagging injuries, but will play against the Islanders. The 29-year-old has four goals and five points in his past four games.

Bozak has been asked by Toronto coach Mike Babcock to be a more responsible defensive player even if it comes at the expense of his offense.

"He wants me to be on the right side of the puck more and try to be the low guy in the zone as much as possible," Bozak said. "Sometimes you get carried away, cheating a little bit toward offense, trying to get a 2-on-1 or hoping the winger can somehow sneak the puck by the D-man, but if they turn it over you're in trouble. It's just about being on the right side of the puck and when you play well defensively it usually turns into offense."

Video Review: NYR @ NSH - 7:34 of the Third Period

At 7:34 of the third period in the Rangers/Predators game, video review confirmed that Craig Smith's stick was at or below the height of the crossbar when he deflected the puck into the New York net.

According to Rule 38.4 (vi) "The determining factor is where the puck makes contact with the stick in relation to the crossbar. If the puck makes contact with the portion of the stick that is at or below the level of the crossbar and enters the goal, this goal shall be allowed". Good goal Nashville.
