Coach's Challenge: NYR @ NSH - 5:18 of the Third Period

At 5:18 of the third period in the Rangers/Predators game, New York requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether a Nashville player interfered with New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist prior to Filip Forsberg’s goal.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee determined that Nashville’s Craig Smith interfered with Lundqvist before the puck crossed the goal line. According to Rule 78.7, “The standard for overturning the call in the event of a ‘GOAL’ call on the ice is that the Referee, after reviewing any and all available replays and consulting with the Toronto Video Room, determines that the goal should have been disallowed due to ‘Interference on the Goalkeeper,’ as described in Rules 69.1 and 69.3.”

Therefore the original call is overturned – no goal Nashville Predators.

Since the Coach’s Challenge resulted in the original call being overturned, the New York Rangers retain their time-out.

Coach's Challenge: MTL @ TBL - 14:14 of the Third Period

At 14:14 of the third period in the Canadiens/Lightning game, Tampa Bay requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether a Montreal player interfered with Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop prior to Dale Weise’s goal.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line.

Therefore the original call stands – good goal Montreal Canadiens.

Since the Coach’s Challenge did not result in the original call being overturned, the Tampa Bay Lightning forfeit their time-out.

Video Review: MTL @ TBL - 14:28 of the Third Period

At 14:28 of the third period in the Canadiens/Lightning game, the Situation Room initiated a video review because Dale Weise's shot at 14:14 crossed the Tampa Bay goal line. According to Rule 38.6 "In the event that a video replay shows a goal was scored prior to the play being stopped, the Video Goal Judge will inform the Game Timekeeper and Official Scorer of the time and the amount of playing time left to be reset on the game clock and penalty time clocks (if applicable)." Therefore the clock is reset to show 5:46 (14:14 elapsed time) and good goal Montreal.

At 15:50 of the third period in the Capitals/Sabres game, Buffalo requested a Coach’s Challenge to review the “Interference on the Goalkeeper” decision that resulted in a “no goal” call.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee determined that Buffalo’s Tyler Ennis interfered with Washington goaltender Braden Holtby before the puck crossed the goal line.

Therefore the original call stands – no goal Buffalo Sabres.

Video Review: DET @ MIN - 14:43 of the First Period

At 14:43 of the first period in the Detroit Red Wings/Minnesota Wild game, video review confirmed that Matt Dumba's stick was above the height of the crossbar when he deflected the puck into the Detroit net. At the Rink: Canadiens at Lightning

TAMPA – The Montreal Canadiens will try to avoid a seven-game losing streak for the first time in more than 20 years Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena.

Montreal (20-14-3) hasn't lost seven straight since a stretch that included the end of the 1994-95 season and the beginning of the 1995-96 season. The Canadiens face the Lightning for the first time since the Eastern Conference Second Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. The Lightning won that series in six games.

The Canadiens acquired goalie Ben Scrivens in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers on Monday for forward Zack Kassian. Scrivens, 29, was playing with Bakersfield of the American Hockey League this season and will back up rookie Mike Condon against the Lightning.

"I'm definitely happy with how things played out," Scrivens said of the trade. "Definitely happy to get a new chance and a chance to play in the NHL again."

At the Rink: Kings at Canucks

VANCOUVER -- The Los Angeles Kings might not have leading scorer Jeff Carter for their game Monday (10 p.m. ET; FS-W, SNP) but they aren't likely to get any sympathy from their opponent, the injury-riddled Vancouver Canucks.

Carter left shortly after the opening faceoff of a 4-3 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday with an upper-body injury, but the Kings' second-line center rejoined the team in Vancouver after returning to Los Angeles, reportedly to be further evaluated. Carter, who did not skate Monday, vaguely disputed why he left but wouldn't share much about his injury or availability against the Canucks.

"Well, you guys don't really know what the full story was, so if it's that I flew home to be evaluated we can run with that. … I was going home either way," Carter said. "I feel alright. We'll see what happens, I don't really know."

At the Rink: Avalanche at Sharks

SAN JOSE -- Veteran forward Joel Ward will return to the lineup for the San Jose Sharks against the Colorado Avalanche at SAP Center on Monday (10:30 p.m. ET; SNE, SNO, SNW, ALT, CSN-CA) when they try to end a three-game home losing streak.

Ward (upper body) missed the past two games after being injured Dec. 18 against the Ottawa Senators. He went into the boards with his head and shoulder after a hit from behind by Ottawa's Mark Borowiecki. Ward, who ranks fourth on the Sharks in goals (10) and points (23), will skate on the second line with center Patrick Marleau and left wing Matt Nieto.

"I feel pretty good," Ward said after the morning skate at the Sharks' practice facility. "I'm looking forward to getting back out there for sure. The Christmas holiday there kind of helped."

DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Dec. 28

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Jonathan Marchessault, C, Tampa Bay Lightning

DraftKings price: $2,900

Sometimes it's just worth riding the hot hand in DraftKings if the price is right, and this is one of those cases with Marchessault. He's quietly in the midst of a six-game point streak (three goals, four assists), and has 24 shots on goal in his past 10 games. He's only a short-term option, but is priced near the bottom of the barrel and has made quite an impression with an uptick in power-play ice time for the Lightning minus Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat.
