At the Rink: Flyers at Wild

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Forward Mikko Koivu will be in the lineup when the Minnesota Wild face the Philadelphia Flyers at Xcel Energy Center on Thursday.

Koivu left the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday with an undisclosed injury after crashing awkwardly into the boards. He was brought to the hospital for additional testing but was released in time to fly home with the Wild after the game.

The Wild did not practice Wednesday and didn't know whether they would have their captain available against the Flyers until he skated Thursday morning.

"You never know until you get on the ice and see how you feel," Koivu said. "I probably got lucky in a way that nothing more happened. It could have been a lot worse."

DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Jan. 7

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Nick Bjugstad, C, Florida Panthers

DraftKings price: $4,500

While other DFS owners load up on the Panthers' top line in the midst of their record 10-game winning streak, it's worth considering a more unique play with Bjugstad and possibly linemate Brandon Pirri (C, $4,300), whom you could stack for $8,800. Bjugstad has played in 25 of Florida's 40 games this season because of injury, and has yet to hit his stride with 12 points, 12 blocks and 56 shots on goal in that limited action. But with Pirri in the midst of a three-game point streak and known for his high shot volume, Bjugstad could get back in on the scoring on the road against the Ottawa Senators, who are allowing 2.63 goals per game at home this season.

At the Rink: Panthers at Senators

OTTAWA -- The Florida Panthers will try to extend their winning streak to 11 games Thursday against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-F, RDS, TSN5).

The Panthers' 10-game winning streak is the longest in the NHL this season and a franchise record.

Panthers defenseman Brian Campbell said this isn't a case of a team being hot, but just playing up to its potential.

The Panthers are 16-3-0 since Nov. 27 and have taken over first place in the Atlantic Division, three points ahead of the Montreal Canadiens. The Senators are one of the three teams to defeat the Panthers in that time, 4-2 on Dec. 8.

At the Rink: Jets at Stars

DALLAS -- As the Winnipeg Jets conclude their longest road trip of the regular season at American Airlines Center on Thursday against the Dallas Stars (8:30 p.m. ET; FS-SW, TSN3), the Jets hope to find something that's eluded them for much of this season: consistency.

The Jets (19-19-2) defeated the Nashville Predators 4-1 at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday, improving them to 2-2-0 on the road trip. Winnipeg will aim to win consecutive games for the seventh time this season, but has yet to win three straight.

"It [consistency] is an easy thing to talk about, but I feel like that's kind of been the way things have been going for us this year, is we win a couple games, we lose a couple games," Jets center Bryan Little said. "For us to have a chance this year, I think we're going to have to get on a roll and try and get wins consistently to get points."

Video Review: NJD @ MTL - 2:51 of the Third Period

At 2:51 of the third period in the Devils/Canadiens game, video review confirmed that Tomas Plekanec's stick was above the height of the crossbar when he deflected the puck into the New Jersey net. According to Rule 60.5 "An apparent goal scored by an attacking player who strikes the puck with his stick carried above the height of the crossbar of the goal frame shall not be allowed. The determining factor is where the puck makes contact with the stick." No goal Montreal.

Fantasy Spin: Johansen-Jones trade fills voids

The Nashville Predators and Columbus Blue Jackets had glaring needs. They addressed them Wednesday in a trade with each other, shaking up the fantasy hockey landscape for the second half of the season.

The Predators, who lacked a true No. 1 center, acquired Ryan Johansen in a trade that sent defenseman Seth Jones to the Blue Jackets. Johansen, tied for 20th in points since 2013-14 (160 in 202 games), was 29th among forwards in NHL.com's latest fantasy rankings, down a few spots in recent weeks because of his decline under Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella, who was hired Oct. 21 to replace Todd Richards.

The 23-year-old center bounced around the lineup under Tortorella and was a healthy scratch Dec. 17, allowing Alexander Wennberg (two percent owned) to latch onto a line with Brandon Saad and Scott Hartnell. With the Blue Jackets in last place in the NHL standings and Wennberg posting 13 points in his past 14 games, Johansen was deemed expendable.

Coach's Challenge: NJD @ MTL - 19:00 of the First Period

At 19:00 of the first period in the Devils/Canadiens game, New Jersey requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether a Montreal player interfered with New Jersey goaltender Cory Schneider prior to Max Pacioretty’s goal.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line.

Therefore the original call stands – good goal Montreal Canadiens.

Since the Coach’s Challenge did not result in the original call being overturned, the New Jersey Devils forfeit their time-out.

At the Rink: Maple Leafs at Ducks

ANAHEIM -- Anaheim Ducks defenseman Korbinian Holzer will play against the team that drafted him for the first time Wednesday when the Ducks host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Honda Center (10 p.m. ET; SNO, FS-W).

Holzer was drafted by Toronto in 2006 and traded to Anaheim on March 2, 2015. The defenseman has been sparsely used this season, having played in only 13 games, but with the Ducks' depth thinned by injuries his presence has been welcome.

"He can sit out a lot of games but he always comes in and works hard," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "When he gets in the lineup he does well. I don't know if I could have ever sat out the amount of games that he's done and then stayed with a positive attitude and come in and really contributed."

At the Rink: Hurricanes at Canucks

VANCOUVER -- Goaltender Eddie Lack has looked forward to playing the Vancouver Canucks ever since they traded him to the Carolina Hurricanes last summer.

Lack will get his chance Wednesday, a belated birthday present one day after turning 28-years-old.

"Biggest game of the year," Lack said with a big smile.

A fan favorite while playing two seasons in Vancouver, Lack backstopped the Canucks into the Stanley Cup Playoffs after No. 1 goalie Ryan Miller was injured late last season with a .927 save percentage down the stretch. He was traded to the Hurricanes for a third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft and a seventh-round pick in 2016 to clear room for goalie Jacob Markstrom, who will make his sixth straight start for an injured Miller.

Lack struggled early trying to play a more aggressive style while also adjusting to a new city, teammates and system in Carolina. He won once in his first nine appearances with an NHL-worst .863 save percentage, but is 4-0-2 with a .923 save percentage since Dec. 11.
