At the Rink: Flames at Avalanche

DENVER -- Jarome Iginla would enjoy scoring his 600th NHL goal against his former team, the Calgary Flames, when the Colorado Avalanche play them Saturday at Pepsi Center (10 p.m. ET; CBC, TVA Sports, ALT2).

Iginla played his first 15-plus seasons with the Flames, was captain for nine of them, and scored 525 of his 599 regular-season goals wearing a Calgary uniform.

"It'd be nice to get it against Calgary, but at the same time when it happens, it happens," said Iginla, who would be the 19th player in NHL history to reach 600. "We know as a team we need to climb back into a playoff spot, and it's an important game for us, so it's definitely a side story and not our focus."

At the Rink: Wild at Lightning

TAMPA – Forward Zack Parise is a game-time decision to return to the lineup after missing a game when the Minnesota Wild take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on Saturday.

Parise missed the first game of Minnesota's four-game road trip, a 3-1 win against the St. Louis Blues, with a knee injury. He practiced on Friday and was a full participant in the team's optional skate Saturday.

"I would hope we have a decision before game time," Wild coach Mike Yeo said. "But we will divulge our lineup at game time. We'll see [Saturday] night."

For the Lightning, Palat will be back in the lineup after missing the past eight games with a lower-body injury. His return will re-unite the Triplets line of Palat, Tyler Johnson and Nikita Kucherov. While Palat and Johnson have struggled with injuries, Kucherov has been having a strong season with 13 goals and 16 assists. He's on a seven-game point streak with two goals and nine assists.

At the Rink: Capitals at Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS – Goaltender Curtis McElhinney will start for the Columbus Blue Jackets against the Washington Capitals on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; CSN-DC, FS-O).

Sergei Bobrovsky, who was activated off injured reserve Wednesday, and coach John Tortorella were optimistic Friday that the 2013 Vezina Trophy winner would make his first appearance since sustaining a groin injury against the Los Angeles Kings on Dec. 8.

The Blue Jackets on Saturday, though, placed Bobrovsky back on the IR retroactive to Dec. 31, saying he re-aggravated the injury. Anton Forsberg was added on an emergency recall from Lake Erie of the American Hockey League.

McElhinney and rookie Joonas Korpisalo have been used in Bobrovsky's absence. Columbus is 3-6-1 during that span.

McElhinney is 2-6-2 with a 3.27 goals-against average and an .891 save percentage in 14 appearances this season. He had 40 saves in a 6-3 win against the Dallas Stars on Dec. 29.

Forward Klinkhammer to return to Oilers lineup

EDMONTON -- Forward Rob Klinkhammer is expected to return to the lineup for the Edmonton Oilers against the Arizona Coyotes at Rexall Place on Saturday (4 p.m. ET; SNW).

Klinkhammer sustained an ankle injury Oct. 27 in a 4-3 loss at the Minnesota Wild and missed 21 games. He returned to the lineup Dec. 15 at the New York Rangers and re-injured his ankle late in a 4-2 loss.

At the Rink: Stars at Devils

NEWARK, N.J. -- Right wing Valeri Nichushkin will be out of the lineup because of a lower-body injury for the Dallas Stars against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday at Prudential Center (7 p.m. ET; FS-SW+, MSG+).

Nichushkin sustained his injury late in the second period of a 5-1 victory against the Nashville Predators on Thursday and did not return to the game. The 20-year-old practiced Friday and Saturday but coach Lindy Ruff thought it best to sit him for the first of a back-to-back set this weekend.

"He was doing a lot better [Saturday] and we'll see where he's at [Sunday at the New York Islanders]," Ruff said. "The smart thing is to keep him off."

Nichushkin, who has four goals, 13 points and 57 shots on goal in 37 games, will be replaced in the lineup by Radek Faksa. Faksa, who appeared in 14 NHL games earlier in the season, was recalled from Texas of the American Hockey League on Wednesday. His last game with the Stars was Nov. 14 in a 3-2 win against the Minnesota Wild. Faksa has one goal and two points with the Stars.

At the Rink: Blues at Maple Leafs

TORONTO -- Toronto Maple Leafs left wing James van Riemsdyk should be accustomed to life with a new coach.

In seven NHL seasons, he has had five different coaches in John Stevens and Peter Laviolette with the Philadelphia Flyers as well as Randy Carlyle, Peter Horachek and the latest in Mike Babcock with the Maple Leafs.

But the adjustment to Babcock took time. Maybe it had to do with the fact this was the first time van Riemsdyk started the season with a new coach since his rookie season with Stevens before he was replaced 26 games into 2009-10.

"It was a matter of getting comfortable with [Babcock] and the lines of communication," said van Riemsdyk, who has points in five consecutive games and six goals and 11 points in his past nine outings going into Saturday's game against the St. Louis Blues at Air Canada Centre.

At the Rink: Predators at Hurricanes

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Eddie Lack will make his second straight start in goal for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Nashville Predators on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; FSN-TN, FS-CR).

Lack made 30 saves in Carolina's 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals on New Year's Eve, lifting his record to 4-0-1 in the past five games.

"Eddie's been good," coach Bill Peters said. "His process is better, he's bigger, he's playing a little further out, I think. He's feeling good about himself. So we will go back to Eddie and see how he does here tonight."

At the Rink: Rangers at Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. — After the most successful month in franchise history, the Florida Panthers will look to keep things rolling Saturday against the New York Rangers (7 p.m. ET; MSG, FS-F).

The Panthers (21-12-4) would move back into first place in the Atlantic Division with a franchise-record eighth consecutive victory.

"We've played really well on this homestand and the last month has been real good for us, so we've just got to keep it going," said coach Gerard Gallant, whose multi-year contract extension was announced Saturday. "We're playing against a good Rangers team tonight. It's a battle. You go out there and keep it going, play the way we played the last month and we'll be fine."

The Panthers, who went 11-3-0 in December and set a franchise record for points in a month with 22, will be looking to end a seven-game losing streak against the Rangers.

At the Rink: Red Wings at Sabres

BUFFALO – The Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings will each be looking to end separate three-game losing streaks when they face each other on Saturday.

The Sabres have lost five of the past six games on top of their past three, and have scored three goals in the past three games.

The Sabres will be without Tyler Ennis on a week-to-week basis with an upper-body injury. He was injured Wednesday during the Sabres' 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals after he was checked by Alex Ovechkin.

"He was just getting up to speed and getting back to the speed of the game and gets injured again," Bylsma said. "It's unfortunate. It feels like he hasn't been able to get to where he needs to be to be effective for our team this year."
