Year in Review: Mikhail Sergachev

Utah’s alternate captain Mikhail Sergachev continued to be a key part of the Mammoth’s defensive core during the 2025-26 season. Let’s take a look at his best moments both on and off the ice. 

On the Ice

Sergachev was a mainstay on Utah’s blueline last season. Through 78 regular season games, Sergachev scored 10 goals and added 49 assists for 59 points. In three of his last four seasons, including both seasons with Utah, Sergachev has scored 10 or more goals. He tied his career-high in power play goals (5) and was one point from matching his power play points career-high (26).

During the regular season and postseason, Sergachev led Utah in time on ice (24:18) and minutes played (1895:04). In the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs, Sergachev averaged 27:25 TOI and played 164:30. Through the six playoff games he played, Sergachev had five points, all assists.

The 2025-26 season was Sergachev’s 10^th NHL season, and he achieved a significant milestone. On Jan. 15, against the Dallas Stars, Sergachev played his 600^th NHL game. It was a strong year for the defenseman who will continue to be a key part of Utah’s d-core next season.

Serving Off the Ice

Sergachev gained attention for more than just his play on the ice. Through the year, Sergachev showed his style with his pre-game arrivals outfits. While the team was on the road, the defenseman discussed how he prepares his unique fits with help from his stylist.

Giving Back

In addition to leading on the ice, Sergachev continues to lead in his communities. Last year, the blueliner launched his own charitable organization, Sector 98. In March, Sergachev and Los Angeles Kings forward Artemi Panarin donated hockey equipment to youth hockey programs in Russia. It was an opportunity for Sergachev to help grow the next generation of hockey players and make the sport more accessible financially.
