Return of Fans - Frequently Asked Questions

The Buffalo Sabres are thrilled that we will be permitted to host fans at select home games throughout the remainder of the season. Please see below for information about the testing requirements and game day protocols. Attendees will be required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to arrival at KeyBank Center. Please see below for information about ticketing.

All fans attending Sabres games will be required to adhere to all applicable New York State, CDC and NHL Guidelines. In addition, any fans traveling to New York will need to follow New York State Travel Guidelines. Please see further information about NYS Travel Guidelines here.

TICKET AVAILABILITY

A: For each game we host fans, there will be a Season Ticket Holder-exclusive window to purchase tickets. Within that window, individual seniority will dictate when Season Ticket Holders are able to purchase. That information will be communicated directly to each Season Ticket Holder. After this, any remaining tickets will go on sale for the general public. Sales will cut off four days prior to the event.

A: Tickets will only be available for purchase in the Sabres mobile app or online at Sabres.com/tickets - NOT at the box office, nor by phone.

A: Yes, if you have credits on your ticket account, you may use them to purchase tickets. You can log in to your account to confirm your balance of credits here. Your credits will be offered as a payment method in your cart prior to check out. 

A: We will be communicating your purchase window in a separate email. All Season Ticket Holders will have an opportunity to purchase tickets prior to the general public. 

A: The ticketing windows will be allocated based on seniority. 

A: Sabrebucks may not be used to purchase tickets.

A: Yes accessible seating will be available online via the interactive seat map.

A: Yes, this can be arranged - feel free to contact your dedicated account representative to set up the details.

A: Tickets maybe purchased in pods of one, two, three or four.

A: No, each transaction will include all seats within a pod, regardless of how many seats you intend to use. 

A: No, each purchase will be limited to one pod. 

A: Yes - pods cannot be separated; the purchaser and guests must sit together.

A: All ticket purchasers will be required to submit personal data on all members of their pod via the contact tracing link in your confirmation email. 

A: Mobile ticketing is a requirement to attend, so you either need a smartphone or need to be attending with someone who has your ticket on their smartphone. 

A: No, we are operating at a limited capacity to accommodate social distancing. Seats will be sold through an interactive seat map.

A: Yes, the suite level will be open. Each suite will be limited to eight (8) occupants and food will be individually packaged. Current suite holders will have the opportunity to purchase a suite before the general public.

A: No - we will put games on sale on a rolling basis so we can continuously evaluate health and safety protocols and create the safest possible game environment for our fans.

A: No - seating availability will be spaced out to follow distancing guidelines and will be continuously monitored as the season progresses. 

A: No. To maintain pod integrity, you will not be permitted to resell or forward your ticket. You will need to arrive with the other members of your pod and use your mobile device to scan their tickets.

A: Yes, but you will need to adhere to all New York State Travel Guidelines which can be found here.

Testing

  • There are three ways you can enter the game:
    • Proof of vaccine: Fans will need to have received their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or single dose of the Johnson & Johnson's Janssen COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the date of the game. Fans who are fully vaccinated can show their vaccination card at doors
    • Proof of negative antigen Covid-19 test (test must be taken within 6 hours of puck drop)
    • Proof of negative PCR Covid-19 test (test must be taken within 72 hours of puck drop)
  • We have collaborated with Quest Diagnostics who will offer antigen tests for $30 with test results within 30 minutes. Quest will also continue to offer PCR tests for $64 for fans who have purchased tickets. When scheduling your PCR tests, fans can use promocode: SabresFan  
  • The price of the test is not included in the ticket price. Fans will pay for the test directly with QuestDirect.*
  • Ticket buyers will be emailed a code to redeem when they schedule their appointment through the Quest Diagnostics website

*This is an out-of-pocket cost to the fan and cannot be submitted to insurance

A: There are now three ways you can enter the game:

A: Testing fees are not included in the price of the ticket. 

A: If one of your attendees is under 18, be sure to submit their information and their parent/guardian information in the contact tracing form. Bring them with you for your appointment at Quest and inform them the minor needs to be tested as well. They will do the tests at the same time. Click here to book your tests.

Note: You need to be 18+ to enroll in CLEAR. Minors attending the game can look to gain entrance through the secondary screening option on-site if their health/test results meets your team's requirements.

A: If you test positive, we will refund the cost of the game ticket. However, you will be responsible for the cost of the test.

A: Yes, if the game is cancelled or postponed you will be granted a refund for your ticket expense and associated fees. However, you will be responsible for the cost of the test.  

In-Arena Guidelines

Planning your visit: 

  • Make sure you download the Buffalo Sabres App (Download: App Store | Google Play), which will include essential resources and information about your visit, including access to your digital ticket and the mandatory health survey. 

  • If not fully vaccinated, Schedule and get your Antigen or PCR COVID-19 test

    • PCR test has to be taken within 72-hours of puck drop

    • Antigen test has to be taken within 6 hours of puck drop

  • The Sabres have teamed up with CLEAR to use their Health Pass technology for COVID-19 screening of fans. Health Pass is a free, mobile experience by CLEAR, which securely connects a person's verified identity to multiple layers of COVID-19 related insights to reduce public health risk.

  • To facilitate contactless entry, all tickets will be digital and can be accessed and displayed only via the Buffalo Sabres App. 

A: KeyBank Center will open to fans 90 minutes before puck drop. 

A: You will not have predetermined entry times to adhere to, but security will be directing people to appropriate entry locations based on wait times during the hours before puck drop.   

A: If tested at Quest, fans will need to download the CLEAR app and verify their identity and will then be able to securely link their COVID-19 test results to the app. The day of the game, fans will open Health Pass on their CLEAR app, verify their identity with a selfie, and answer a health questionnaire on the app. Users who have a negative test result and pass the health questionnaire will receive a green notification on the app, which they will show as they enter KeyBank Center for the game.

If tested at a location other than Quest or are fully vaccinated, please be prepared to show proof of your negative test with matching ID. Complete your health survey HERE and be prepared to show your survey confirmation email at doors.

A: We are including parking expense in the cost of your game ticket. Convenient parking will be provided in both the KeyBank Center ramp and the LECOM Harborcenter ramp. All patrons will be given a location to park based on seating location. 

A: Yes, you will need to arrive with everyone in your pod attending. As such, we encourage carpooling to KeyBank Center. 

A: Your health and safety remain our top priority, and we have worked closely with state and local health officials to develop the strongest operating protocols with the goal of providing a safe and enjoyable experience. 

 

Protocols include: 

  • All guests must complete a health screening which includes: 

  • A temperature check upon arrival at the venue that registers below 100.4 degrees; 

  • Passing a quick health survey 

  • Proof from a healthcare provider of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of faceoff, Proof of Vaccine, or Proof of Negative antigen test are required for entry

  • Every KeyBank Center employee working the event is also required to complete the same health screening 

  • Appropriate social distancing throughout the venue including during ingress and egress, while seated, and in other areas throughout the venue, including concourses, escalators, and restrooms 

  • Mandatory use of face coverings, except when actively eating or drinking in assigned seat 

  • Cashless transactions for in-venue purchases 

  • Usage of MERV-13 air filters in the building 

  • Continuous cleaning and disinfecting of high touch surfaces throughout venue 

  • EPA approved cleaning products readily available for employees and guest. 

As part of these protocols, there are various policies that are being implemented to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests. Guests who are permitted entry to KeyBank Center, and subsequently refuse to comply with or violate our policies, will be asked to leave and their tickets will not be refunded. 

A: Yes. Fans who use the New York State Excelsior Pass will be able to use it to show proof of vaccination or testing. You will go through the same process as those who are not using CLEAR for entry. A: Everyone attending the event will be required to complete a health screening, which includes a temperature check upon arrival that registers below 100.4 degrees, as well as a quick and easy health survey and proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test. In addition to this, guests must provide an appropriate ID that matches the name on the PCR COVID-19 test result. Anyone 18 years or older must present a government-issued ID such as driver's license or passport. Those younger than 18 may use a government-issued ID, birth certificate, social security card, school ID, or locally-issued ID. 

A: The basic health survey will include basic COVID-19 questions related to recent travel, current symptoms, and possible contact with anyone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19. To help us ensure a fast and efficient entry, we ask that all guests complete the survey before arriving at the venue.

A: All guests are required to wear proper face coverings over their nose and mouth at all times, except while actively eating or drinking in their assigned seats. Bandanas, scarves, and gaiters are not permitted. Acceptable face coverings include medical grade masks or 3-layer cloth coverings (or at least two cloth layers with a filter). Face coverings with exhalation valves or vents are prohibited. We are implementing this, as well as other policies, with the goal of providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests. Guests who are permitted entry to KeyBank Center, and subsequently refuse to comply with or violate our policies, will be asked to leave and their tickets will not be refunded. 

A: Any guest who registers a temperature of 100.4 or higher will have their temperature retaken with a handheld device. If the guest again registers a temperature of 100.4 or higher, they will unfortunately not be permitted to enter the venue, and can request a refund for their ticket prior to faceoff.

A: If you are symptomatic, we ask that you please stay home and call the Box Office at 1-888-467-2273 prior to faceoff to request a refund. 

Social distancing between different ticket pods will be a requirement throughout the arena before, during and after the game. Failure to comply with this will result in ejection, including during intermissions.  

A: Account Services will not be open, but there will be representatives available at ticket windows to assist with any issues. 

A: The Sabres Store will be open to fans attending the game. It will not be open to the general public. The store will have a limited capacity of patrons allowed in at any given time. The secondary location on the east side of the 100 level will be open as well. Fans can purchase Sabres products any time at ShopOneBuffalo.com.  

A: Per league regulations, bags will not be allowed into the game. This includes purses and handbags.

A: These will not be accessible.

A: A limited number of concession stands will be open, but will not be accepting cash. Full guide to concessions can be found in the Sabres Mobile App in the Arena tab. Payment can be made via credit, debit, or tap-and-go payment (Apple Pay for example). Season Ticket Holder discounts will not be available for concessions. You will be required to eat and drink in your seat in the bowl, and all tables and chairs will be removed from the concourse. Any attendees found loitering unnecessarily in the concourse will be asked to return to their seat.  

A: For the time being, first game certificates will not be available.

A: Yes. New York State requires each fan to self-screen using each of the following questions prior to leaving their homes on game day in order to attend the game:  

   

Symptoms - Are you currently experiencing, or have you recently (within the past 48 hours) experienced any of the following symptoms?  

  • Fever (above 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit) or chills  

  • Cough  

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing  

  • Fatigue  

  • Muscle or body aches  

  • Headache  

  • New loss of taste or smell  

  • Sore throat  

  • Congestion or runny nose  

  • Nausea or vomiting  

  • Diarrhea  

  • Note: A few of the above symptoms may occur with pre-existing medical conditions, such as allergies or migraines, that have been diagnosed by a health care practitioner. In those cases, you should only answer "yes," if your symptoms are new or worsening.  

   

IF 'YES' TO ANY, YOU CANNOT ATTEND GAME.

Contacts - IN THE PAST 14 DAYS, HAVE YOU HAD ANY KNOWN CLOSE CONTACT (OR PROXIMATE CONTACT AS DETERMINED BY LOCAL HEALTH AUTHORITIES) WITH A PERSON CONFIRMED BY A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, OR SUSPECTED BASED ON SYMPTOMS, TO HAVE COVID-19?  

Note: Close contact is defined by New York State Department of Health as being within 6 feet of an individual for 10 minutes or more within a 24-hour period, starting from 2 days before their symptoms developed or they were tested. Close contact does not include individuals who work in a health care setting wearing appropriate, required personal protective equipment.  

If 'YES,' YOU CANNOT ATTEND GAME.  

If 'NO,' YOU CAN ATTEND GAME.  

Positive Test Results - IN THE PAST 14 DAYS, HAVE YOU TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 THROUGH A DIAGNOSTIC TEST?
