RANGERS NOTES
1942-67 - THE ORIGINAL SIX ERA – The Rangers held their third Centennial theme night against the Red Wings, as they celebrated the 1942-67 -Original Six Era. The Blueshirts commemorated the players that built the Rangers status as a true New York team and the homegrown legends who starred for the team during those years.
POWER PLAYERS – With Mika Zibanejad’s power play goal this evening, the Rangers have tallied a power play goal in four-straight games and have five power play goals through their last six games.
Mika Zibanejad has notched a power play goal in back-to-back games and leads the Rangers with four this season. He ranks seventh for most points (257) by a Ranger in franchise history, surpassing Camille Henry (256). He improved his point streak to eight-straight games at home against Detroit (6G-7A) and has points in five of his last six games (3G-3A).
Artemi Panarin notched his 305th point at Madison Square Garden, tying Steve Vickers for the eighth-most points in franchise history. He tallied his third power play point through his last three games and leads the Blueshirts in powerplay points (6) this season. He improved his point streak against the Red Wings to eight games (7G-10A) and overall, has tallied a point in five of his last six games (3G-8A).
Will Cuylle tallied an assist on Mika Zibanejad’s power play goal, his second power play point in his last three games. He has points in eight of his last 11 games (5G-5A).
Alexis Lafreniere skated in his 400th career NHL game.
Scott Morrow made his Rangers debut tonight.
