Letter from Luc Robitaille

LA Kings President

Dear LA Kings fans,

On behalf of our entire organization, I want to say THANK YOU for your passionate support of the LA Kings. Our team values your unwavering commitment to our team.

As we continue down the path of re-creating the Kings, one of our primary commitments to you has been to keep you informed of "The Plan" - our vision to craft a Stanley Cup contending team once again. Although the results this season at the NHL level have not been satisfactory; we remain steadfast in this process and are encouraged by several developments that reinforce our resolve to remain on track.

When we began this process in 2017, we spoke about our mission of a "Relentless Pursuit of Talent." We are happy to report that this plan is bearing fruit and most recently, two national media outlets have rated the Kings with the best prospect pool in the NHL. Both The Athletic and The Hockey Writers ranked the Kings No. 1. Additionally, The Hockey Writers ranked Alex Turcotte as the No. 2 prospect in all of hockey.

While that is encouraging, through the 2020 NHL Trade Deadline we have committed to adding to that pool of prospects and have done so in acquiring forward Tyler Madden, one of the top offensive players in the NCAA this season. We have also added multiple draft choices and, as of February 24, hold 11 draft selections in the 2020 NHL Draft and 10 more in the 2021 NHL Draft.

Within our development program, we have had tremendous success at the junior ranks as well as with the Ontario Reign. Most notably, the Kings had the most prospects (nine) of any NHL team representing their respective countries at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.

In Ontario, Cal Petersen, Kale Clague and Martin Frk, who have each seen time with the Kings this season, played in the AHL All-Star Classic. The Reign have been paced offensively by several Kings prospects including Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Mikey Eyssimont and Carl Grundstrom, as well as 2017 first-round selection Gabriel Vilardi, who made his NHL Debut on February 20 after quickly becoming one of the top players in the AHL.

We have also seen promising development from defensemen Mikey Anderson and Tobias Bjornfot. Additionally, at the NCAA and junior levels, prospects such as Alex Turcotte, Arthur Kaliyev, Akil Thomas and Aidan Dudas have all had standout years with their respective clubs.

As the season winds down, you should look forward to seeing many of these young players in the Kings and Reign lineups as we look to continue their pro development.
