Defenseman Travis Mitchell was returned to the Bridgeport Islanders on Wednesday morning

Defenseman Travis Mitchell has been returned to the Bridgeport Islanders on loan, the New York Islanders announced on Wednesday morning.

The 26-year-old recorded one goal in his first nine NHL games, along with four shots on goal, 13 hits and six blocked shots. He averaged 11:31 TOI and skated on a pair with Scott Mayfield.

Mitchell has four assists and 37 penalty minutes through 14 games with Bridgeport this season.
