Girls Future Islanders Program

Introducing the Girls Future Islanders Program—an exciting all-girls extension of the Future Islanders initiative designed to inspire the next generation of female hockey players. This beginner-friendly program teaches young girls the fundamental skills of hockey, including skating, stick-handling, passing, and shooting, through a series of eight weekly 1-hour lessons. To help eliminate barriers to entry, first-time participants receive a brand-new set of head-to-toe hockey equipment, setting them up for success on the ice.

Girls Continue to Play Program

Designed for girls ages 10 and under, the Girls Continue to Play Program provides the perfect next step for players graduating from introductory hockey lessons, like the Future Islanders program, as they work toward travel team play. This 8-week league offers a fun and supportive environment where participants can sharpen their skills, gain game experience, and build confidence on the ice. Each week includes one practice and one game, helping players develop through consistent, structured play.

  • Season 1: January – March
  • Season 2: March – May

  • (8) 1-Hour Weekly Skills Sessions (shared ice with the All-Girls LTP program)

Girls Tournament Team

The Girls Tournament Team brings together the top 11-12-year-old hockey players from Long Island to represent the best of their age group in the prestigious Wickenheiser Female World Hockey Festival (Wickfest). These young athletes will showcase their elite skills on an international stage, proudly wearing the New York Islanders logo as they compete at the highest level. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring female hockey players to be part of a competitive team that aims for excellence both on and off the ice.
