As part of the Capitals long-standing commitment to military and veterans, each season includes several activations, partnerships and programs.

From community programming to in-game recognition and beyond, the Capitals’ engagement with the military community is extensive.  The Capitals' support for military programming reflects their deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who serve our country.

The Washington Capitals' goal is to provide access and opportunities to hockey for all families of the military, active military members, and veterans who wants to experience or participate in the game of hockey.

Military Nights

Veterans Game presented by LiUNA

The Washington Capitals Veterans Game celebrates and pay tribute veterans across all military brunches in observance of the federal holiday of Veterans Day.

This season's Veterans game took place on November 5, 2025 vs. the St. Louis Blues.

Salute to the Military Game

Salute to the Military Night is an evening dedicated to honoring the men and women who have served the country in the armed forces.

Last year's Salute to the Miltary Game took place on March 3, 2026 vs. the Utah Mammoth.

Military Hockey

Each year, the Capitals host the Standing USA Warriors Tournament presented by LiUNA! in partnership with the USA Warriors Ice Hockey program.

Team participants include veterans wounded or injured during combat who have joined the team for physical activity and to rekindle camaraderie with their fellow service members.

In 2024, the Capitals also announced the formation of the Washington Capitals Warriors Hockey Team in collaboration with the USA Warriors and Capital Beltway Warriors. The Washington Capitals Warriors team is entirely comprised of combat wounded or service-disabled veterans from the Washington, D.C. region who represent the Capitals at NHL branded and USA Hockey events.

Energy Transfer Reenlistment

With the help of Energy Transfer, the Washington Capitals are proud to host reenlistment ceremonies at select home games throughout the season.

MSE Foundation Auction

MSE Foundation hosts an annual Military Night Auction, where Capitals military-themed jerseys and pucks are autographed and auctioned off to support military nonprofit organizations.

Specialty Jersey Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of America

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Capitals co-designed a specialty themed jersey with United States Air Force Veteran Patrick J. Sargent and U.S. Navy Veteran Fidel GomezTorres. Autographed specialty jerseys and pucks will be auctioned off in a Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation auction taking place Tuesday, Oct. 6 at noon through Thursday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. at to benefit the nonprofit organization Our Military Kids. Our Military Kids is a locally based, national 501(c)(3) nonprofit offering extracurricular activity awards to children ages 1-18 of deployed National Guard, deployed Reserve, or Veterans receiving care for combat-related injuries or illnesses.
