Hispanic Heritage

The NHL, NHLPA and the entire hockey community celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15. The month focuses on celebrating the contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx community to the game of hockey. This year’s Hispanic Heritage night is on Tuesday, October 14th vs. The Tampa Bay Lightning and there will be a pregame Block Party at District E.

Each year, the Washington Capitals celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through a variety of community events and cultural programming. Since 2019, the team has partnered with local organizations to host youth hockey clinics, cultural block parties and dinners, and educational initiatives. Highlights include clinics at San Miguel School and Latin American Youth Center, collaborations with the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Little Free Library featuring Hispanic and Latino authors, and pregame celebrations at District E with live music, dancing, and Latin-inspired cuisine. The Capitals have also provided grants to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and Latin American Youth Center.
