Fort Nucks: To tuque or not to toque

...baby it's cold outside

by Derek Jory @NoJoryous / Vancouver Canucks

I was attending journalism school at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, when one frigid winter morning in 2008 I left my apartment at 7:30 a.m. to go to class.

Fort Nucks: Life after hockey

...Canucks forward helping develop new NHL/NHLPA program

by Derek Jory @NoJoryous / Vancouver Canucks

The news that Derek Dorsett won't be returning to the ice this season rocked the Canucks dressing room.

His teammates spoke incredibly high of Dorsett, the 10-year, 515-game NHL veteran, reflecting on everything he accomplished playing for Vancouver, Columbus and New York.

Alex Biega, however, was more focused on what's to come for Dorsett.

...Boeser & Horvat knock it out of the park

by Derek Jory @NoJoryous / Canucks writer

Sunday afternoon Brock Boeser took the puck from centre ice, skated in on Henrik Lundqvist and scored on the former Vezina winner with ease.

...who sits where and why?

by Derek Jory @NoJoryous / Vancouver Canucks

Fort Nucks: Sven Scores for HEROS

...every goal Baertschi scores helps more than the Canucks

by Derek Jory @NoJoryous / Canucks writer

Sven Baertschi isn't known for outlandish goal celebrations. Hands up, maybe a little fist pump; it's tame compared to many, but that's Baertschi - he's happy to have scored and can't wait to do it again.

Fort Nucks: Ironman

...Canucks assistant coach still holds impressive NHL record

by Derek Jory @NoJoryous / Canucks writer

Here I was thinking Tony Stark was Ironman.

The true Ironman goes by the name of Doug Jarvis, Canucks assistant coach, who never missed a game in his NHL career. He played for Montreal, Washington and Hartford for 964 games between Oct. 8, 1975 and Oct. 10, 1987.
