Pierre Engvall Bio

The Toronto Maple Leafs took a flyer on Engvall, a forward from Ljungby, Sweden, when they selected him in the seventh round (No. 188) of the 2014 NHL Draft after he put up 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 39 games for Frolunda's Under-20 team.

Engvall remained in Sweden through the 2017-18 season, when he played 31 games for HV71 in the Swedish Hockey League before coming to North America. He joined Toronto of the American Hockey League for the final weeks of the regular season and the Calder Cup Playoffs. He contributed eight points (three goals, five assists) in 20 games, helping Toronto win the AHL championship -- and during the playoffs signed a contract with the Maple Leafs on May 18, 2018.
