He made his NHL debut in a 3-1 win against the New York Rangers on Feb. 22, 2018 and scored his first NHL goal in a 6-3 victory against the New York Islanders on March 2.

Juulsen was selected by the Canadiens in the first round (No. 26) in the 2015 NHL Draft after he had 52 points (nine goals, 43 assists) in 68 games for Everett of the Western Hockey League. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Montreal on July 9, 2015.
In 2016-17, Juulsen had 34 points (12 goals, 22 assists) for Everett and was named to the WHL West First All-Star Team. He also had two assists in seven games to help Canada win the silver medal in the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.
