A veteran of broadcasting professional hockey for more than 40 seasons, RICK PECKHAM returns to the broadcast booth for the 2018-19 season, his 23rd year as the play-by-play announcer for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He also works select games for NBC Sports Network.
The 1977 graduate of Kent State University with a B.A. in telecommunications had been the play-by-play announcer for Hartford Whalers games on SportsChannel New England from 1984 through 1995. Peckham has also broadcasted NHL action on the NBC Sports Network, SportsChannel America, and ESPN. He also called games on both television and radio for the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans from 1977-84.
Peckham's professional history includes announcing at the US Open tennis, Arena Football's Tampa Bay Storm, NFL and NBA telecasts for ESPN International and college basketball. Peckham is also involved in the Lightning's community efforts. He was instrumental in the 'Hockey by the Numbers' program which used hockey statistics to help teach math in Hillsborough County schools. Peckham is also active in the Lightning's volunteer program, C.H.A.R.G.E., working with Meals on Wheels Tampa and other local charities.
