Crunch split weekend in Canada

Syracuse lost to Belleville on Friday before bouncing back with a victory the following night over Toronto

The Crunch split a two-game trip to Canada in Week 8, facing off against the Belleville Senators and Toronto Marlies. 

The Crunch opened the week with a 6-4 loss to the Senators at CAA Arena. The Crunch got goals from four different scorers, but they let a 2-0 lead slip away in the loss. Syracuse responded the next day in Toronto to take down the Marlies, 3-1, and snap a three-game losing streak.  

After the two-game split, the Crunch remain at 0.500 with an 8-8-2-2 record. They are in fourth place in the North Division with 20 points.

This week, the Crunch square off against three different North Division foes in four days.

Crunch celebrate milestone week

Syracuse's win over Belleville on Saturday marked the 1,000th victory in franchise history

The Crunch extended their winning streak to four games and earned a milestone win for the franchise and for head coach Ben Groulx in the process. 

Syracuse began the week with a three-goal, third period comeback win in Springfield, stunning the T-Birds with a 5-4 shootout victory. It was the Crunch's first win when trailing by three goals in the third period since Feb. 28, 2016 (at Binghamton). 

The Crunch then went to Belleville and won their 1,000th game in franchise history by beating the Senators, 5-4. It was also Ben Groulx's 300th career win as an AHL head coach.

Winners of five of their last six games, the Crunch are home for three games this week. Syracuse has climbed back to 0.500 with a 6-6-1-2 record. The Crunch are in fourth place in the North Division with 15 points.

The annual camp returns for the first time since 2019 and will feature the Lightning's top prospects, recent NHL Draftees, invitees and more.
