Alexa Crimaudo, a police officer and cancer survivor, is the Community Hero of the Month supported by Northwell for November.

Crimaudo joined the NYPD in 2018 and was assigned to the 105th precinct in 2021. In 2024, she joined the Nassau County Police Department and was assigned to the first precinct.

She battled a cancer diagnosis as she was serving and protecting the community. At age 28, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and was declared cancer-free in Dec. 2024. While undergoing a series of chemotherapy treatment, she only missed eight days of work. She was recently honored with the prestigious Theodore Roosevelt award for her unwavering perseverance, courage and dedication.

Now on the other side of the hard-fought battle, Crimaudo was honored during the Islanders Hockey Fights Cancer Game, celebrating almost one year of remission.
