Youth Hockey

Mite Development: Ages 5-8

Pre-Requisites: Pre-Hockey 1&2 or Basic Skills 1-4 (in hockey skates)

This program is designed for the younger skater who has sufficient prior skating experience according to the pre-requisites. It is designed to continue teaching the fundamentals of skating and provide an introduction to the game. Topics covered include: skating skills, proper stick handling, puck control and passing skills, as well as basic shooting methods.

Rooke Islanders 1: Ages 9-12

Pre-Requisites: Basic Skills 1-4 (in hockey skates)

Rookie Islanders 1 is a fun and exciting introductory hockey class for ages 9-12. This program is specifically designed to teach hockey skating and puck handling skills. Throughout the session, skaters will learn proper body position, how to push and glide on hockey skates, how to "snowplow" stop, how to carry the puck and much more!

Rookie Islanders 2: Ages 7-12

Pre-Requisites: Successful completion of Rookie Islanders 1/Mite Development according to coach's recommendation

Our advanced Rookie Islanders class is the next step up from our beginner classes. Participants will refine the skills already learned and continue working on power skating, edgework, stick & puck handling and passing and shooting drills.
