ISLANDERS SCHOOL ASSEMBLY PROGRAM
The Islanders School Assembly stresses the importance of making smart decisions, eating healthy, staying active as well as treating other with respect. During this interactive assembly, the Islanders help students realize why being committed to making smart decisions is important in school and life.
Select elementary schools are visited by members of the Islanders team for a special assembly. During this event the Islanders are paired off for the community initiative, and speak to students on topics ranging from the importance of education, staying active, eating healthy and making smart decisions in life.
The New York Islanders, The NHL, and the NHLPA have partnered with EverFi to launch the "Future Goals" Program, a major initiative that will bring interactive education opportunities to communities across North America. Using the fast-paced, exciting game of hockey as a learning vehicle, students will be able to understand the real-world application of key science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) topics. The program also introduces students to significant future career opportunities that exist in STEM-related fields.
The Blades for Grades Program rewards students for working hard in school and earning good grades. Students applying for the program must show that they have received an "A" or moved up a letter grade in a subject, in order to earn complimentary tickets to an Islanders game. COURIER OF COURAGE
Many young children across Long Island have experienced a hardship in their lives. Despite life's struggles, these kids have overcome obstacles to get where they are today. The "Courier of Courage" program acknowledges these children for the battles they have face and the hardships they have overcome. The "Courier of Courage" becomes an Islanders VIP for day and is invited to attend Islanders practice.
The New York Islanders pay recognition to local community members that have gone above and beyond to help an individual or the community in which we all live. The Hometown Hero is invited to come to a New York Islanders game and receive in-game recognition.
The Islanders are proud to recognize local military personnel who serve overseas protecting America and representing all Long Islanders. During each Islanders home game, one veteran is honored.
